Hello future readers,
Another thing I really love to do during the summer is go to the community pool. Yesterday was a super hot day out, so I grabbed my towel, hopped on my bike and rode down to the pool.
When I got there, Susan and Raychel were already in the pool splashing around. I was glad to see them.
I laid out my towel, took off my shorts and shoes and jumped in with them!
After a while we got tired, we got out and laid on our towels and rapped. It was a far out day to get a tan!
Raychel said she was getting thirsty, and Susan and I agreed that we all needed a drink. Sunny talked to Mr. Weissman, the pool manager, and asked if she could set up a lemonade stand!
Actually, it was lemonade flavored Kool-Aid, but it's all the same when you want a cool drink; and at 10 cents a glass, we couldn't beat that!
So we all bought some lemonade, (Raychel bought 2 glasses!), and we hung and around, talking and drinking lemonade.
After a while, it started getting a little chilly, so we decided to call it a day. But I love going to the pool! I wish the summer could go on forever!

The Drive-In Movie
Hello future readers!
Outta site! We went to a drive-in movie last night! It was so much fun! In case you don't have drive-in movie theatres in the future, I'll fill you in. It's like a gigantic parking lot with a big movie screen in the front. You have to go see the movies at night. It even has a snack bar! Some drive-ins have posts with speakers on them. You take the speakers off and hook them in your car window to hear the movie. Our drive-in sounds are on what my mom says is a "radio frequency". You have to tune your AM dial to 690 to hear the movie from your car radio. Anyway, my friend Stephanie came over for dinner, and when it got dark, we drove to the drive-in.
We drove past the marquee and saw what was playing..."The Creature From Planet Zoltar". Oooh! We'll have to tell Danny what's playing here. He loves Science Fiction movies!
We found a place to park, (we were behind that yellow car), and Mom gave us some money for the snack bar. We got a large popcorn to share, candy bars and soda. We made it back to the car just as the movie was starting!
We cuddled up under the blanket my mom had brought along, ate our snacks and watched the movie.
Here are some scenes from "The Creature From Planet Zoltar":
It was a really good movie! Stephanie hid under the blanket when the creature picked up the girl and carried her away. I said she was missing the best part of the movie!
I felt kinda sad when the spacemen shot the creature to save the girl. I don't think he was gonna hurt her. Maybe he just liked her like Faye Raye in King Kong. I thought they should have made friends with the creature. Anyway, after the movie we drove home. Steph and I were so tired, we fell asleep on the way.
We had a really groovy time. I think drive-in movies are the coolest! They're only open in the summertime, and since there's no school, you can see a movie right in the middle of the week! I hope summer is just as much fun in the future. That's all for now!

The Lazy Days Of Summer
Hello future readers,
You know, one of the great things about summer is that most of the time, you really don't have to do anything except relax and have fun. Today was one of those easy going type of groovy days. It was warm and breezy, the perfect summer day. Susan, Raychel and Jennifer all came over to hang out with me. We all walked down to the corner store to get something cool. Jennifer and I got Creamsicles, and Susan and Raychel got Bomb Pops. We decided to go back to my house to eat them. I brought my tape player out on the front steps, and we listened to The DeFranco Family and ate our popsicles.
Raychel asked if she could use my jump rope. She wanted to teach us a new jumping song she learned called "Eevy, Ivy, Over".
Raychel's really good at jump rope. We were all laughing because "Eevy, Ivy, Over" is a jumping song about school, and none of us want to think about school in the summertime! Susan brought out her jacks, and she and Jennifer and I played.
I'm O.K. at jacks, but I'm not as good as Susan. She got up to "three-sies". I can never get past "two-sies". Do kids still play jacks in the future?
Anyway, we all had a lot of fun. I'm really glad Susan and Raychel came back to Springfield for the summer. I know I have a lot of friends around here, but somehow, it just doesn't seem right without them around. We played and talked and listened to tapes until it was time to go inside for dinner. Isn't summertime outta site?

Happy 4th of July!
Hello future readers!
One of the super things about summer is celebrating the 4th of July! This year, Danny is having a party and invited all of us over! There's gonna be food, music, and Danny's mom bought a Slip 'N' Slide for us to cool off with. A Slip 'N' Slide is a huge piece of yellow plastic with little holes in it, and a connector for a garden hose. When you lay out the plastic and hook the hose up, water shoots all over it, and you can run and slide all the way across! I wish I could do it, only I'm just getting over a cold, and Mom won't let me, darn it! Anyway, when I got to Danny's house, he said he had a surprise for all of us.
I walked out to his backyard, and I saw....Susan and Raychel!
Far out! It turns out that they're gonna spend the whole summer here in Springfield! Raychel's staying with her auntie, and Susan with her grandparents. YIPPEE! We are gonna have such a groovy time!
Danny's mom had all kinds of goodies out, and a tape player with some dynamite Beach Boys songs. I love the Beach boys!
It was a great party! Everyone was walking around, talking, eating and dancing. Danny's dog, Muttley was running around, barking and trying to beg food from all of us! (Hahaha!) I was glad some of the other girls didn't wear swimsuits either. At least I wasn't gonna feel left out.
After awhile, Danny took everyone who had swimsuits out to the front lawn where his dad had set up the Slip 'N' Slide. Mr. Campbell took some pictures, and man were they funny!
There's Danny, showing off. What a ham!
There goes Stephanie!
Look out Raychel! Here come the others!
I was laughing so hard my sides hurt! I know I'll get another chance this summer to play on Danny's Slip 'N' Slide, so it was fun just to watch. After everyone dried off, Mrs. Campbell gave all of us sparklers!
It was the best 4th of July party ever! Do people in the future still celebrate Independence Day? It would be a shame to miss a good time like this! So future readers that's all for now. Happy 4th!
