Hello future readers,
If you're a little confused by the title of this entry, let me clue you in. No, I'm not really selling my dog, but right now I'm mad enough to do it! My dumb dog messed up almost my whole 3 day weekend! Lemme tell ya what happened...
Friday morning I got up to go to school, I got dressed and made my bed.
I packed up my books in my book bag. Last night I just finished a project for Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. It was a composition and a poster I colored for the Art board in my class. I couldn't wait to show it to Miss LaSalle. I gave it one last look to see that everything was just the way I wanted it.
I thought it was really far out, (even if I do say so myself!).
Then my mom called me down to breakfast. I grabbed my radio and went downstairs and left my project on my bed. Usually when I go downstairs, Boomer follows me, only this time he didn't.
Sometimes I like to listen to the radio in the morning when I eat my breakfast. My mom doesn't mind, because she can hear the weather report while I listen to "Way Out Wally's Morning Show".
I didn't know it at the time, but Boomer was still up in my room.
Usually after I finish my breakfast, I feed Boomer his. When I called him and he didn't come, I went upstairs to find out why.
"Oh NO! Boomer, you BAD dog! That was my homework! MOMMMMYYY!!!!"
Boomer just sat on my bed, chewing away, like he wasn't doing anything wrong! My mom came running up the stairs , after hearing me scream and saw what Boomer had done. She took him downstairs and locked him in the kitchen. By now I was crying my eyes out.
It took me 2 days to finish that project, and I didn't think Miss LaSalle would believe a stupid excuse about my dog eating my homework! (Do kids still use that excuse in the future?) My mom came back upstairs to calm me down and told me she'd write me a note, and that Miss LaSalle would understand. She also told me that I have to do my project all over again, and turn it in when I went back to school next Tuesday. That means I would have to spend most of my 3 day weekend doing that project, and I had plans this weekend! I was gonna sleep over at Raychel's house, and her mom was gonna take us to the museum and out to a fancy restaurant for lunch in the next town. My mom said that I could still go out to the museum and the restaurant, but the sleepover was out. Thanks a lot, Boomer! My mom says that when you have a puppy, these things sometimes happen, and that I would just have to deal with it. *sigh* I guess this will teach me never to leave my homework lying around again. AAARRRGGHHHH! What a way to start the weekend!
Well, I hope you guys had a nice weekend, anyway.
Until next time, future readers,
Your (really MAD) friend,
Julie Newman
Hi Julie,
ReplyDelete"The dog ate my homework" is a long-standing joke, but I've never actually known anyone who really had it happen. That is so funny! Although I'm sure you aren't laughing. Did Boomer loose his bedroom privileges?
Fawn
Well, I sure wasn't laughing! That dopey dog messed up my whole weekend. And even though I wasn't grounded, it felt like I was, 'cos I couldn't sleep over at Raychel's. The museum and lunch were fun, but it was hard to enjoy myself, knowing that I had to come right home afterwards and work on that darn project! And since I felt like I was grounded, Boomer was too. My mom locked him in the kitchen, and let him outside to do his thing. I didn't even want to look at him. I finally let him back in Sunday night, but not before I gave him the business about chewing up my project! I love my puppy, but this is the worse thing he has ever done!
DeleteDear Julie,
ReplyDeleteThis story made me think of the song, "I know an old lady who swallowed a fly". We could change the words to "I know a young puppy who swallowed my homework..."
then we could sing it around the fire at camp!
Friends forever,
Vivienne
Uh...no. I don't ever want to be reminded about this weekend again! Friday at school was a drag, because all the other kids got to read their compositions out loud in class, and I didn't have one to read. Miss LaSalle let me read it today in school , though, but it just wasn't the same.
DeleteOh, no! That darn Boomer! Lucky he's so cute. It looks like you did a great job with your report and poster of Dr. King. I really like how your picture looks as though he is speaking, giving his speech. I am sure you did just as well with your second project and Miss LaSalle liked it! I guess Boomer just had good "taste"! haha
ReplyDeleteAlice
Yeah, the second one came out pretty good too, and Miss LaSalle liked it. But I still wish I didn't have to do it! As for Boomer's taste, he better just stick to dog biscuits from now on!
DeleteMy sister and I used our dog for an excuse for being late once. We said that the dog knocked over the fishtank so we had to clean that up and find somewhere for the fish because the glass broke and we had to make sure the dog wasn't cut up from the glass...I think we didn't get suspensions just because it was the first time we agreed no something (even if it wasn't true).
ReplyDeleteSorry about your homework
Thanks Nonna. I really like Miss LaSalle, and I don't think I'd feel right lying to her. And I'm pretty good about doing my homework.
DeleteOh no! Puppies can certainly get into a lot of trouble, I can't tell you how many things I've had chewed up. I'm glad to hear that Miss LaSalle was willing to let you make up the homework, but what a bummer about your sleepover. Just remember that puppies are really just babies and sometimes don't realize what they are doing is wrong.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Miss LaSalle is pretty cool, and I'm glad I could make up the project so I wouldn't get a bad grade. I know Boomer is just a baby, but it didn't make missing my sleepover or doing my project again any easier. I would really miss Boomer if he wasn't around. Who would be my slobbery alarm clock? HAHA!
DeleteOh, I'm sorry Boomer chewed up your project. We have two puppies and they are quite naughty sometimes. But then you remember how much you love them and everything is alright again. (Sometimes it's the same for little sisters)
ReplyDeleteI loved your project on Martin Luther King Jr. Your picture was amazing and I bet you did even better the second time you drew it.
Melodie
Aw Boomer!! Sorry you had to redo your project. We have 3 Dachshunds and they are constantly chewing up ANYTHING they can reach. Small toys, hairbrushes, laundry baskets, DOLL accessories - anything within reach! I tell my kids all the time, "if you want to keep it better pick it up!"
ReplyDeleteI hope you can remember most of what you wrote for your project so it won't be so hard to redo it.
I think I actually did a better job on my report, but the first picture I drew was better than the one I turned in. But I got a good grade, and now I'm more careful about leaving my stuff out where that crazy dog of mine can get to it!
DeleteOh, no! Your dog ate your homework! That stinks, but he didn't know better. I'm glad you had time to do it over.
