This Easter has been really groovy! Last night I set out my Easter bucket in my room for the Easter Bunny to fill. This morning, my goofy little slobber alarm woke me up.
Blecch! I need to lay on my tummy more often, so I don't get licked right in the face! So I sat up, wiped the doggie drool off my face and the sleep from my eyes, and remembered it was Easter!
Boomer was almost as excited as I was. He sat next to my Easter bucket and started barking!
"Boomer, don't you dare take anything outta that bucket!" I got out of bed and sat down on the floor to see what the Easter Bunny brought me.
Outta site! I got another Honey Hill Bunch doll to go with the clubhouse I got for Christmas! This one's name is Curly Q!
Isn't she cute? And she comes with a little yellow cat. I can't wait to show her to my other Honey Hill Bunch dolls!
All right! I got 2 new Super Balls, a red one and a blue one! My favorite colors! I'm glad I got 2, 'cos last week I was playing jacks outside, and my ball rolled off into the street, and went down the gutter! Now I'll have balls to play jacks again.
Yummy! I got 3 chocolate bunnies, 2 little ones and a big one, and 2 plastic eggs filled with jelly beans!
I also got 3 colored eggs. I know what I'm having for breakfast this morning!
My mom stuck her head in the door and wished me a Happy Easter. She told me it was time to get dressed for church.
Three days ago, I got a package in the mail from my friend Vivienne and her mom in West Virginia. Mrs. Walton made dresses for Vivienne, me and Kevin's sister Betta, all with the same fabric, only slightly different from each other. They sent me a snapshot of their dresses.
Aren't they pretty? And now here's me in my dress!
Isn't it beautiful? Now me, Vivienne and Betta can be long distance triplets today! Dynamite!
The church service was really nice. This year, Raychel had the solo in Kids Choir. She sang "Day By Day" just like she did in camp, (only without the costume and the make-up). After the service, my mom said we were going to a Church Supper at the Community Center! Our church is really small. There's only the entry hall, the sanctuary (thanks for helping me spell that, Mom!), a few classrooms, the bathrooms and the church office. There isn't any room for parties or special things like a Church Supper, so we're having it in the gym of the Community Center. YAY! When we got there, everything was set up really nice.
It was a pot luck, so everyone brought food. My mom brought her special macaroni and cheese. It all looked so good, I couldn't wait to start eating!
It was so much fun! I was glad our new friend Marc and his family came. We spent all afternoon eating, talking and laughing. There was even some soft guitar music playing on the sound system.
Man was the food ever good! I don't think I've ever eaten so much in my whole life! I hope there are still special things like Church Suppers and Easter baskets in the future. This was one of the best Easter Sundays I've ever had. I hope you future readers had a super Easter, too!
Until next time,
Your friend,
Julie Newman
Dear Julie,
ReplyDeleteYou certainly look lovely in your new dress! Isn't it fun to get all dressed up to go to church and celebrate the most important day ever, when Jesus rose from the dead. At our church we have a Sunrise Service, followed by an Easter breakfast hosted by the Youth Group. Then the Youth Group has an Easter Egg Hunt for the elementary school kids. It is a wonderful way to celebrate a very special day.
Your future friend,
Fawn
Happy Easter Fawn!
DeleteI love my new dress and I love getting all dressed up. It sounds like you had a groovy day too! I hope your grandkids got lotsa eggs!
Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteThis is your Big Funny Feet friend. Betta and I thought about you yesterday. Maybe we should call ourselves the "Tres Chicas" because we were dressed like three little Easter chicks. I got a bunny PEZ container, a candy necklace and a fuzzy hopping chick in my Easter basket. But best of all, a chocolate Easter bunny. I've already eaten his ears and cotton tail. Yums!
Happy Easter,
Vivienne
Hi Vivienne,
DeleteI've already eaten 2 of my small chocolate bunnies, but I'm saving my big one. Wouldn't it have been funny if you and Betta were here and we showed up at church looking like 3 yellow chicks? You two looked really groovy in your dresses too. Happy Easter!
Signed,
Big Funny Feet (Julie)
Hi Danny, Jason, Kyle and Marc,
ReplyDeleteI see you guys had to get all dandied up with ties just like CJ and me. I could hardly wait to get mine off after the service. I thought I was going to strangle. All of my sisters love to get dressed up, but CJ and I prefer good ole jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. It is too hard to run in dress shoes and we get in trouble if we get grass stains on our dress pants. So the sooner those duds come off, the better.
Question, do you prefer the spiced jelly beans or the fruity ones?
From WV to CA,
Kevin
Hey you guys, Marc here.
DeleteI was so happy I didn't have to wear a tie to church, but Danny, Jason and Kyle sure hated it! And of course our moms wouldn't let us run around, because we had to act like "little gentlemen". Phooey! I don't think any of us got spicy jelly beans, do they actually make those?
Hey Marc, this is MY time capsule!!
Looks like a wonderful dinner! And I love all of the goodies in your basket. Easter is an even bigger deal in the future, so that should make you happy!
ReplyDeleteThe food was super yummy! Easter is a bigger deal in the future? WOW! That's outta site!
DeleteWow, it looks like you had such a great day! I love your Honey Hill Bunch doll - SO CUTE!!!
ReplyDeleteIt really was a great day, Brenda. And I had fun playing with my Honey Hill Bunch dolls and clubhouse when we got home!
DeleteHi, Julie!
ReplyDeleteAlways late to the party here! Your Easter looks great! I love the dress; yellow is such a lovely color! I'm glad they were made similar, but not exact. It's a major boo boo for people to arrive at an event in the same dress (unless it's planned). The fashion police go nuts!
Isn't it terrible when super balls bounce away?! We have to be careful with ours because little paws like to grab and play with them. We usually find them under the couch or dresser.
Easter is still a big deal in the future. Yay! some churches have Easter breakfasts because family gatherings are still popular for Easter Sunday. This year we had lunch with Xyra's famly - ham, mac and cheese, veggies, corn, and fruit pizza for dessert. Not sure if you know about fruit pizza. Rumor has it the first was served in 1929. Xyra says she remembers it being a Pillsbury Bake Off winner, but doesn't remember if that was in the 70s or 80s. Anyway, then we had dinner at Nana Kestral's. She made roast beef and potatoes and chocolate chip cake. Boy, were we stuffed!
We do still have church suppers too, but not on the major holidays. Our church has a pork and sauerkraut supper in February. i think it's supposed to help relieve cabin fever. (giggles).
Sorry to talk so long! Loved the post!
