The Community Center Christmas Party

Hello future readers,

It's almost Christmas! I love this time of year because there's always so much to do; shopping, going to see Santa, our Christmas concert at school, going on our class trip to see The Nutcracker...whew! And this year, the Community Center decided to throw a Christmas party! Outta site! And you know what else is really groovy? Our favorite band "Loud And Proud" was asked to play at the party! And they're getting paid! Isn't that super? Danny, Sunny and Kim have been practicing for weeks after school and on the weekends. I know they're gonna be dynamite!

When we got to the Community Center gym, the table was all laid out with goodies!

"Loud and Proud" were looking sharp and ready to play!

Some of us had gathered around to dig the music.

Jennifer was deciding which cookies to eat...

...while Cheryl and Raychel were talking and eating at the back table.

The band was really far out! I could tell they had really been working hard to get all the songs right.

They played "Jingle Bells", "Go Tell It On The Mountain", "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" a really cool version of "Joy To The World", "Deck The Halls", and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas".

We all clapped and sang along, and some of us even danced!

Kyle and Shante' were really in the groove!

Jennifer and I were boogeying too!

Then all of a sudden, Danny shouts "Conga Line!" So all of us lined up and did the conga line all around the gym! Was that ever fun!

Far out! It was such a cool party! I hope people come together in the future to have groovy Christmas parties like this. My next entry will be about Christmas Day! Yippee!

Until then future readers,
Your friend,
Julie Newman

  1. Hi Julie,
What a handsome looking group of young people! It is so nice to see everyone dressed up for Christmas. We are such a casual society in 2017 that people seldom get dressed up for anything anymore. Most people would not be able to relate to the phrase, "wearing your Sunday best". I love the way Loud and Proud coordinated their look. Even Danny has a festive tie. Thanks for capturing the memories and sharing them with all of us.
Merry Christmas from your future friend,
    Fawn

    1. Thanks Fawn. People don't like to get dressed up anymore in the future? That' dumb. Dressing up is fun! "Loud and Proud" were really groovin'! Have a very Merry Christmas!

    2. I agree, dressing up is fun and it makes a special occasion even more special. In 2017 some people take casual to the extreme by wearing their pajamas to grocery shop. Can you believe it?

    3. Pajamas at the grocery store? That's WEIRD! The only time I've worn my jammies out of the house is when we had a pajama story time at the library!

    1. Thanks Melody. I wish I had a time machine too. I always wonder what life is like in the future. But if you ever do get a time machine, you can come back to the 70s and hang out with me and my friends anytime!

    1. Gig.....Danny used that word too. I guess that's showbiz talk. It was really cool that they all got paid! Danny said he was gonna order something really cool from his toy catalog!
