Our New TV Room!

Hello future readers!

Guess what? My mom decided to make our guest bedroom into a TV room! Isn't that just super? We've always had just one television in the living room. Sometimes me and my mom can't agree on what to watch. She likes soap operas, cop shows, talk shows and cooking programs. I like the shows that most kids like; The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Happy Days, Zoom, Saturday morning cartoons, shows like that. Sometimes, I get my way about what we watch, sometimes I don't. I usually don't act like a spoiled little brat, but sometimes, I sulk when I have to miss my favorite shows. Then of course, the next day, all the kids at school are talking that one show, the one I missed, and I feel like a dope, 'cos I don't know what they're talking about. Now I don't have to worry about that anymore! Outta site!

On Friday night after dinner, I called Sunny to see if she wanted to watch some television with me. She said she couldn't wait to come over! All right!

I brought my beanbag chair down from my room for Sunny to sit on. Then I checked out the TV Guide while I waited for her to come over. Which episodes of The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family were coming on tonight?

When Sunny got there, she thought the TV room was groovy. It kinda reminded her of Lisa's den, only Lisa's got a bigger TV and a fold-out couch.

Well, the Brady Bunch came on, and my mom brought in Jiffy Pop and soda. Thanks Mom!

It was a good episode. Sunny loves Barry Williams who plays Greg Brady. She says he's really cute and she likes the way he sings. Well, my favorite show, The Partridge Family, was on next, and I think David Cassidy , who plays Keith Partridge is much cuter than Greg Brady, and he sings better too, (but don't tell Sunny I said that!).  Anyway, while we were singing the theme song, my mom brought in some strawberry Jell-O 123 with whipped cream!  Far out! That's a really yummy dessert that has 3 layers of Jell-O goodness! My mom's pure dynamite!  I tell ya, it doesn't get any better than this on Friday night!

Sunny had to go home after the Partridge Family was over, 'cos she had to get up early on Saturday. Her family was driving out to her aunt's house. But it was a fun Friday night.  And I love our new TV room. Now I'll never miss my favorite programs again.  I wonder if people still get together to watch their favorite TV shows in the future?  Good snacks, good friends, and good TV are some of the things that make life a groovy thing.

Until next time, future readers,
Your friend,
Julie Newman

  1. I agree Julie, David Cassidy is WAY cuter than Barry Williams! Yum to the 1,2,3--they quit making that, I was so mad. My favorite was orange.

  2. Really? No more Jell-O 123? What a drag! I like strawberry the best. Lotsa my friends have famous people they think are groovy, but David Cassidy has it all over any of them!

  4. Good morning Julie,
We had a TV room at our house too. We would gather there to watch the Steelers play football. Do you like to watch sports? Today in 2015 our family seldom invites company over to watch TV, however, our church has Movie Night once a month and folks gather in Fellowship Hall to watch a movie together. We have popcorn and door prizes.

    1. My mom and I don't really like sports. Danny and Jason do, but they're not on teams or anything, they just like to play in the park or the school playground, Movie night at your church sounds fun!

    2. To be honest, I'm not really a sports lover, but watching with friends made it better. What I really liked were the snacks we shared.

    1. Collects them? Oh...does she have a film projector? Are they available on Super 8? They must be groovy to watch them whenever

    2. Molly: well... Ya know what a record is right? Imagine it has a movie or tv show on it that you put inside the TV and it plays it! Mom has a lot so far.

  6. Every Friday night me and my friend watch TV together. We love flipping the channels and seeing what is on at 9:30 pm! And by the way, my favorite song is from the 70's! It's Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees.

  7. It's groovy that you get together and watch TV together in the future. Hmm...The Bee Gees came out with a song called "Stayin' Alive"? I guess it must be outta site, because their song "Jive Talkin" is dynamite!

    *From Julie's doll mom:*

"Stayin Alive" came out in '77 or '78, and it's still 1975 for Julie!

  8. Hey, Julie, Sunny and I have the same name! :-)
I love your time capsule, and I've been reading it for about six months. It's groovy!
I love the Brady Bunch too! I have all the episodes on DVD. (DVDs are special discs that you can watch on your TV whenever you want. You don't have to wait until your show is on TV! Isn't that outta site??) I think my favorite is the one where Greg smokes. :-) I've never seen the Partridge Family, though, but my dad has DVDs and their Christmas album.

    1. Wow! You can watch shows on your TVs whenever you want? It sounds great, but I think that might be too much of a good thing. I mean, if it's always there, what do you have to look forward to? I hope you have other stuff that you wait all week for. Sometimes, that's half the fun! But if you have those disc things you can watch The Partridge Family with, then you should really watch it! David Cassidy is the grooviest thing on 2 legs! He's just so dreamy!

  9. By the way, Julie, do you ever watch the Little House on the Prairie TV show? I love that show, and the books too!

    2. Hey, I can't wait to tell Sunny someone has the same name as she does. Is your real name Sunshine? That's Sunny's real name. Sunny is just a nickname.

    3. I can't wait for you to tell her either! Yes, Sunshine is my real name, and it totally fits me-I seriously am such a positive person! Is your friend Sunny like that?
And yes, I think I will check out the Partridge Family now...David Cassidy sounds super dreamy!

    4. Yeah, Sunny's really groovy. She's sure named right, 'cos she's got such a sunny personality. But she can also be a real tiger is someone messes with one of her friends. Last summer at camp, she got so mad at Jason and Danny, she wanted to punch them right in the nose! And when Jennifer first moved her and she was mean to me, Sunny told her if she didn't knock it off, she would tell the whole 4th grade not to speak to her anymore! So maybe Sunny also means like fire! Haha!

And I'm glad you're gonna watch David Cassidy. Lemme know if you think he's as super as I do!

  10. Hey Julie, I watched a little of the Partridge Family earlier! Man, can David Cassidy sing! And you were right, he's super dreamy! I can see why you like him so much!

    1. Outta site! Isn't he the grooviest? I would really love to meet him someday, but I know that will probably never happen. Sometimes my friends give me a hard time about liking him so much, but there are famous people my friends like too, so I remind them that they don't have any room to talk about me!
