Meeting The Gang At Sam's

Hello future readers,

Since Vivienne has been here for a few days, I wanted to show her one of my favorite places in Springfield, Sam's Snack Shack. I love that I can pretty much go there anytime and see someone I know. On this day, we met the boys and Jennifer.

As soon as we walked in, Vivienne said the place reminded her of Arnold's on "Happy Days". (that's a TV show). I guess she's right...it's got a jukebox, pinball and good food like Arnold's.  Jennifer waved us over and asked who my friend was.

I introduced Vivienne to Jennifer and Jason, and explained that she was a surprise visitor from Kevin's neighborhood in West Virginia, and my pen pal.

They thought it was cool that another pen pal from out that way came to Springfield for a visit. Danny and Kyle were so into their pinball game, I don't think they even noticed us.

Jason was finished with his banana split, so he gave Vivienne his chair and went to go pick out a song on the jukebox.

Then Vivienne ordered her own banana split, and I ordered a cream soda float, and we rapped about the different fun places in Falling Waters and Springfield.

Jason chose "I'm Your Boogie Man" by K.C. and the Sunshine Band. and asked Vivienne if she wanted to dance. Vivienne likes this group, too, so she said yes.

Wow, I didn't know Vivienne was such a good dancer! She could really move!  She said she had to stop before the song ended, or her banana split would melt too much. Then Kyle asked Jennifer to dance.

Danny sat down and joined us while Jason went to play pinball. He asked Vivienne how well she knew Kevin, and when did she think he'd come to visit again. She wasn't sure, but told Danny she'd tell Kevin how much the guys missed him.

I asked Vivienne how she liked Sam's Snack Shack, and she said she wished there was a place like this one in Falling Waters. She remembered when Kevin came back from visiting us last year, he used to talk about Sam's a lot. I guess we're pretty lucky to have a groovy place like this. And I'm glad I got to share it with Vivienne.

Until next time, future readers,
Your friend,
Julie Newman

  1. I always enjoy checking out the local restaurants when I travel, some of my best memories are of meals eaten at places we visit. Hopefully Viv will feel that way about Sam's!

  2. I hope so. Since it was so cold when I went to West Virginia, I didn't get to go to any of the hangouts near Vivienne's house. I'm not sure if there even was one. So I hope she'll have groovy memories of Sam's so she can tell her friends, too.

  3. Sam's looks like lots of fun. We don't have a restaurant like that here, but I'm sure we would be there all the time if we did.

  4. Hi Julie,
Falling Waters is a rural community so we have to drive about 5 miles to get to a restaurant or store or ice cream stand. I know Vivienne is enjoying walking to Sam's and hanging our with your friends.

    1. Yeah, I don't remember seeing too many places after we came back from the airport, except maybe the farm! Vivienne thinks it's so cool to be able to get around Springfield all by ourselves without any help from a grown-up!
