So Long, Vivienne

Hello future readers,

This is gonna be a pretty short entry. I haven't felt much like writing, because the morning after Easter Sunday, Vivienne went back to West Virginia. I didn't even get a chance to ride with her to the airport, because I had to go to school. Her flight was at 9:30 a.m.

She told me she had a super terrific time, and she was sad that she had to say good-bye, but she really missed her mom and dad. I felt the same way when I had to leave West Virginia.

"Maybe we can see each other over summer vacation", I said to her.
"Yeah", she answered. "That would be groovy."

We gave each other a monster sized hug.

"Friends forever?", I said as I choked back tears..
"Forever and ever", Vivienne answered. She sounded like she was about to cry, too.

"I'll write soon", she promised and then she got in my mom's car. I stood there and waved to her until the car disappeared around the corner.

I really hated having to go to school when I felt so down. I knew this wouldn't be the last time I'd see Vivienne,  But we had so much fun, and it was just so hard to say good-bye. I'm sure lots of you have felt like that, too. I'm gonna write to Vivienne's folks and thank them for letting Vivienne come and visit me. I hope she'll be able to come back real soon.

Until next time, future readers,
Your (sad) friend,
Julie Newman

  1. That had to be hard, I would have been sad too. But now that you both have made the trip, perhaps it will open the door to many more!

  2. Hi Julie,
You and Vivienne are two lucky girls. Most pen pals never meet and carry on a long-distance friendship their entire lives. I have a friend on the west coast I keep in touch with almost daily through emails (We communicate through our computers. It's a 2016 thing.) We share a mutual love of dolls just like you and Vivienne. Even though I have never met her in person, she has become a dear friend. Who knows, perhaps we will meet someday. Until then, we have our letters, just like you two.
    Your future friend,
    Fawn

    1. Wow, sounds like Star Trek! It's neat to have a pen pal, but really far out when you can visit each other. Maybe you'll meet your friend someday. I bet you 2 would have a dynamite time like me and Vivienne.

  3. Hi Julie and Mrs. Newman,
Vivienne arrived home safely with a great big smile on her face. She hasn't stopped talking about her trip to Springfield all week. As a geography project, she is writing a composition about her stay and will present it to her class along with the photos she took.
Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and taking such good care of my sweet girl. She has made memories that will last a lifetime.
    Love,
    Mrs. Walton

    1. Hi Mrs. Walton!

We're glad Vivienne had such a groovy time. All the kids thought she was really cool, and they told me they miss her too. My mom said to tell you that Vivienne behaved herself and ate all her vegetables, (even the lima beans, YUCK!), and that she enjoyed having her stay with us. We hope she can come back again soon!
