Welcome To Camp Wilderness

Hello there Julie's Future Readers!

My name is Jason Gerard and I'm 10 years old. This is the week us guys get to tell you all about what we do at camp, 'cos why should the girls have all the fun, right?

Our camp is run a little different than the girls camp. You have to be 8 years old to go to Camp Wilderness. When you're 8, 9 and 10 years old, you sleep in cabins, like me and my friends do.

Our cabins are down the road a ways. There are 3 of them; the Trailblazers, the Explorers and the Adventurers. This year me and the guys are Explorers.

When you get to be 11 and all the way to age 14, you get to be in the Bears, Wolves, or the Eagles. They rough it and sleep in tents.

Over here is the lake where we can swim and go fishing.

We also have a Dining Hall, Rec Hall and Arts cabin just like the girls camp. Well, I gotta go meet the guys now. We're going on a hike!

"The ants go marching 9 by 9, skiddy bop, skiddy bop bop bop......"

"The ants go marching 9 by 9, skiddy bop, skiddy bop bop bop....."

"The ants go marching 9 by 9 and the little stops to scratch his behind!" (laughter)

"And they all go marching down and around and into that ground and up that drain and into the rain."

"Hey guys, let's look for a good place to stop and have a snack."

"Yeah." "OK." "Sounds good."

"We've walked east of the cabin for about 2 miles."

"There should be a cool spot just beyond those trees."

"I better contact Doug to let him know where we are....Explorers calling base camp...we're about 2 miles east of our cabin. We're gonna stop for a snack and then head back."
"Base camp to Explorers...that's a Roger. Over and out."

So we hike past the trees, sit down and then break out the cookies.

"Hiking in the woods is outta site."

"Yeah, it kinda reminds me of when we play G.I.Joe and The Adventure Team guys are out on patrol..."

"Except there aren't any bad guys around."

"Or any scientists to rescue.."

We rap a little more and then head back to our cabin. We dump off our gear and go to the Rec Hall for free time.

Only it's kinda empty right now 'cos the other guys aren't done with their activities yet. Me and Kyle play a game of Trouble.

While Marc and Danny shoot a game of pool.

"Nice shot, Marc."

Hey Future Readers, come back tomorrow and check out another activity."

Catch ya later!

  1. Calling hikers, come in hikers,
This is Command Base Falling Waters. Keep an eye out for Civil War ghosts. It is reported that they are in your vicinity, dressed in plain clothes and very hungry. They might ambush you for your Oreos.

  2. This is Jason, and y'know it took me awhile to figure out who "KEF" was (Kevin Eric Fleagle!). Anyway, Julie told us part of that story that the counselor at Camp Falling Waters told you guys. Tell me something...who do you think would win in a fight, The Civil War Ghost or Three Finger Willy?

    2. Hey, this is Danny. I don't think a ghost gun is gonna do too much!

    1. This is Kyle. The camp cook would only give us some cookies, but we wanted to grab potato chips and granola too!

    2. That would have been a great trail picnic if you had the chips and granola as well as the cookies!
